Monograms

Hello Print Fans!

As we are in the middle of the wedding season I thought I would write about some of the options that we are able to produce but for various reason we were unable to include on our website.

Part of the beauty of Capital of London is the selection we are willing to offer our clients. It saddens me to say this but at most stationery shops now days are run to maximise profit. Now, I am not saying that we are not interested in money, that would be a lie, we are private company and we have to make a profit on our work otherwise we would be out of business very fast! But as part of this drive to maximise profit the biggest casualty has been your selection. Let me explain.

It is in general far easier for a company to limit their selection of invitations (or other stationery) to a few different items, these can then be cut and produced in bulk (often the larger companies will do print runs of 10,000 invitations) and when you come to order your invitation they will just print your text on the blanks. As they are ordering the material in bulk and they can print all the invitation apart from the text in one run the cost to produce this is much cheaper than to produce 100 custom made invitations. The drawback to this method though is that you are limited to whatever styles, papers or invitations the print company has on stock.

We have a different philosophy. I have always believed in giving people the choice to select or design what they want. Excuse the pun, but to me every order starts of as a blank sheet of paper, to this we can add, take away, embellish, design, draw……. The list is endless, the only thing hat can limit your order is the amount you have to spend and even there if you have a clear budget and inform us before hand we will do our best to incorporate everything that you would like within your budget.

Because there is so much on offer for our clients it would be impossible to include everything on our website. One of the things that have been missing from the Wedding invitations is the Monogram design service we offer.

This year has seen a rise in the popularity of monograms on wedding stationery. I would say at a rough estimate around 70 – 80 % of the invitations we have designed this year have included a personally designed monogram. Even my own sister, who recently got engaged, included a monogram on her invitation.

We are lucky to have a very talented graphic designer at Capital of London. Who designs all of our monograms, if you would be interested in including a Monogram with your order please contact us and we can discuss ideas and send you some samples of monograms we have designed previously.

The best part about the process is that there is generally no additional cost involved.

Contact us through the usual means for a quote or just to discuss the design of a monogram, I consider a large part of my job to be educating people on what printing can achieve so I always have time to discuss questions or other problems you may have.
